She may have just celebrated her first year as a real-life princess, but Kate's first year as a member of fashion royalty has its own set of well-heeled pressures.
London designer Nicholas Kirkwood has slammed the 30-year-old Duchess of Cambridge for her conservative choice of shoes.

He told The Daily Beast that the royal style icon's choice of footwear is not 'princess-y' enough, explaining:
"She just wears too much high street stuff. I know she’s trying to be democratic, but I don’t know how many pairs of LK Bennett you can wear."

He added: "She does occasionally come out and is wearing [Alexander] McQueen or something like that. It’s like, ‘Do that more! You’re meant to be a princess-y type of person, so act like one!"
Kirkwood, who is famous for his over-the-top designs, is a favourite designer of A-list stars including Sarah Jessica Parker and Beyonce.

He said he would love to get Middleton in a pair of his creative designs, most of which cost more than $1000, explaining: "It’d be great if she did wear [my] shoes."
