Kate Middleton's Cheeky Remark About Prince William's Beard, Revealed by a Lip Reader
The Princess of Wale is thirsting over William's beard too.
Princess Charlotte might have cried over Prince William's beard, but the rest of the world is thirsting over his relatively new facial hair—and it seems Kate Middleton agrees with the general public. That is, according to a lip reader.
Nicola Hickling, a professional lip reader, told The Sun that Middleton had a spicy response about William's stubble when talking to Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, during Remembrance Sunday on the Foreign Office balcony. Hickling reports that the duchess asked, “You like a beard?," to which Middleton replied, “I find it quite rousing."
Wessex then teased that William's whiskers had cured her, presumably referring to Middleton's cancer diagnosis.
"You’re all better now," Wessex said as both laughed.
While it's much more fun to believe that was how the conversation went, a separate lip reader told the outlet that the exchange was much more innocent (and actually poked fun at William's ability to grow a beard). Kayleigh Harris claimed that Middleton responded to Wessex's initial inquiry saying that the facial hair is “never quite rounded.” Harris added that the duchess then said that it was “a nice beard” and that "it’s a lot better now.”
Ironically, the couple's daughter wasn't as big of a fan as Middleton appears to be. William recently revealed the the youngster was brought to tears the first time she saw her dad's facial hair.
“Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off,” he said during his trip to Cape Town, South Africa. “Then, I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay.”
This weekend's events marked Middleton's first major royal event since finishing her preventative chemotherapy. On Saturday, the Princess of Wales attended the Festival of Remembrance looking chic in one of her staples, a black coat dress, accessorized with a traditional red poppy pin. Her brunette hair was styled in bouncy curls that were swept onto one shoulder. On Sunday, she wore a high-neck coat-dress hybrid with a velvet pussy bow and finished off the look with a matching fascinator with a fishnet veil.
