Kate Middleton Wears Queen Elizabeth II’s Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings to Remembrance Sunday Service

LONDON — After her treatment for cancer earlier this year, the Princess of Wales is easing her way back into royal life, and official engagements.

Kate Middleton attended the annual Remembrance Sunday service led by King Charles at The Cenotaph war memorial in central London.

She wore a black, structured, military-like Catherine Walker ensemble with a velvet bow and frogging on the shoulders and pockets; a black fascinator with matching flowers; a cluster of poppies; and her silver Fleet Air Arm brooch.

The princess also wore Queen Elizabeth II’s Bahrain pearl drop earrings, which were gifted to the late monarch by the ruler of Bahrain in 1947.

She had previously worn the earrings to Remembrance Sunday services in 2016 and 2019, and to the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh in 2021.

The Princess of Wales watched from the balcony of the Foreign Office building with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh by her side.

Queen Camilla did not attend the ceremony due to a chest infection.

The princess often opts for military-style coats at Remembrance Sunday services.

Last year, she wore a black Catherine Walker design with a high collar. She previously wore the same coat to the Remembrance Sunday service in 2019, with three poppies and a small gold brooch.

In the past she has worn Alexander McQueen, Temperley London and Diane von Furstenberg to the annual service, one of the most important dates on the royal calendar.

Senior members of the family and the government come together to pay their respects to members of the armed forces, and those who lost their lives in World War One and World War Two.

On Saturday evening, the Princess of Wales attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall to celebrate and commemorate the Armed Forces.

She wore another simple black coat dress and accessorized it with a black Chanel clutch; a Monica Vinader pearl necklace and Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl drop earrings. She also wore her diamond and sapphire engagement ring, which once belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

The weekend’s appearances mark the first time that the princess has undertaken official engagements.

She took to social media in June to say she’d be returning slowly to her royal duties while undergoing treatment for her cancer diagnosis.
