While Kate Middleton has been making a series of surprise appearances after completing chemotherapy, she is still being selective about which events she plans to attend—as such, she opted out of a recent major royal event attended by husband Prince William and her in-laws, King Charles and Queen Camilla.

William, Charles, and Camilla all stepped out in formal attire for the Diplomatic Corps Reception at Buckingham Palace on November 19. For the white-tie event, William wore a black tuxedo with a white tie; Charles also wore a tuxedo with a white tie, adding a bright blue royal sash underneath his jacket and a fleet of pins on the left lapel of his jacket. Camilla, meanwhile, wore a deep blue textured velvet dress, and accessorized with an aquamarine encrusted tiara. Like Charles, she accessorized with a bright blue royal sash—except hers had a white bow with a mini portrait pinned at her left shoulder.

According to People, "the white-tie gathering sees members of the royal family welcome hundreds of diplomats to the royal residence in London. The event is typically held in the first week of December and unofficially marks the start of the festive season, but this year it was likely moved up to accommodate next month’s state visit to the UK by the Emir of Qatar." Middleton last attended the the Diplomatic Corps Reception at Buckingham Palace in 2023.

Royal fans need not worry—the Princess of Wales explained in her recent cancer update video that while she had finished chemotherapy, she would be more selective with events in the months ahead. "Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes," she said. "I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can."

Middleton is already slated to fill her next month with holiday festivities. She will be hosting Together at Christmas on December 6her annual carol service at Westminster Abbey, People reported. The princess is also slated to appear at the Sandringham Christmas Day service and is expected "to host a 'rival Christmas party' at their home on the Sandringham estate, Anmer Hall, with Kate’s family including her parents, Mike and Carole, in attendance" alongside William, according to The Daily Beast.
