Will Kate Middleton and Prince William's Kids Attend Trooping the Colour?

We're just days away from Trooping the Colour—which will take place on June 15—and it's turning out to be one of the royal family's most anticipated events of the year. As anticipation surrounding the event grows, fans can't help but wonder which members of the Firm will be in attendance amid the family's health crises (King Charles and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnoses). While Charles's attendance has already been confirmed (it is a birthday celebration for him, after all), the jury is still out on Middleton making an appearance.

Although the Princess of Wales was reportedly considering making her return to the spotlight on the Buckingham Palace balcony, royal author Katie Nicholl thinks that a Princess Kate sighting on Saturday is “incredibly unlikely."

“She has made it very clear that she wants to stay out of the spotlight,” the expert told Entertainment Tonight. “She needs this period and below the radar for her recovery. We’re so used to seeing her up on that balcony.”

Even if Middleton sits this one out, it doesn't mean that her family won't represent her up there. In fact, in previous years, Middleton has been accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Nicholl thinks that their attendance is a possibility, despite their staying mostly out of the public this year (except for George and Will's father-son soccer outing).

“They’ve been up there several times now,” Nicholl said of the kids' past Trooping the Colour appearances. “They are always impeccably behaved, often entertaining, and they always seem to enjoy it. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if William makes the decision to bring them.”

“They’re not working members of the royal family yet, but they will be," she continued. "Prince George is a future king, so for the public to be able to see George, Charlotte, and Louis on occasions like this is really quite important.”
