Kate Middleton Is Officially Returning to Royal Duty for Remembrance Day
It will be her first major appearance since completing chemotherapy.
Kate Middleton has a busy weekend ahead of her. This morning, it was confirmed by Buckingham Palace that the Princess of Wales will be joining the royal family for the annual Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, as well as Remembrance Sunday at The Cenotaph war memorial in London in honor of fallen soldiers from the U.K. and Commonwealth.
The two events will mark Middleton's first major return to royal duty after completing her chemotherapy treatment in September. Last month, she met with 16-year-old cancer patient and aspiring photographer, Liz Hatton, at Windsor Castle, and a week later, she made another surprise appearance alongside Prince William in Southport to check in on emergency responders who treated those injured in a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party earlier this summer.
As for Remembrance Sunday, the Princess of Wales has attended the ceremony every year since she married Prince William in 2011, including during her all of pregnancies with the couple's three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Buckingham Palace also revealed that King Charles, Prince William, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburg, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duke of Kent will be attending this year's Remembrance Day festivities. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla's attendance is unknown, as she's currently recovering from a chest infection.
In addition to slowly returning to royal duty, Middleton is also reportedly back in the gym and feeling better amid her cancer battle. "From what I understand, Catherine is doing very well. She is back training at the gym and doing all the things she wanted to do," royal biographer Robert Jobson told Hello!, adding: "I do think that we will start to see a lot more of her, and that she will carry out engagements as well as continuing to work behind the scenes."
But rather than returning full speed ahead, Jobson predicts that Middleton will focus on bigger, more impactful events while also making sure she spends time with family.
"Her focus will be on her family, while still managing to do the key events," he continued. "William is very keen that she does stage a comeback, but I don't think that necessarily signals that we're going to get a big tranche of engagements, one after the other. They will start traveling again and I expect them to do at least one tour next year. Catherine may well do a couple of solo things so that William can stay at home with the kids."
