Kate Middleton "May Never Come Back" to Her Previous Role, But She and Prince William Have Been "Reconnecting"
Kate Middleton has been taking an extended break from public royal duties as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy, and there's been a lot of speculation about when she might return to the spotlight. The Princess of Wales has been spending increased time with her family as she recovers (especially with her husband Prince William—they're "closer than ever"), and it's possible that when she does come back, it'll be in a much different role.
According to an Us Weekly insider, Kate’s team is "reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back," and she "may never come back in the role that people saw her in before. Her role may look very different. She’s looking at what it will shape into."
That said, the Princess's "recovery is going well" and she's up and about—though, unable "to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised."
Meanwhile, Prince William is spending more time at home due to most royal engagements being canceled amid Prime Minister Rishi Sunak calling a surprise general election. "The announcement that the royals won’t be able to work as much has been unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together," the source explains. "They’ve been reconnecting and are closer than ever."
Great to hear! And FYI, this update comes amid positive news from a Vanity Fair insider who says Kate's "turned a corner" with her treatment and is "actually doing a lot better."
