Kate and Wills' tweet almost steals baby Archie's thunder

While the world was waiting with bated breath to see the first photo of baby Sussex, it didn’t seem to be on the minds of the Cambridges’ social media team.

Just seven minutes after the first image of the new royal was released to the public, Kensington Palace tweeted about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to North Wales.

“Today The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting North Wales to meet individuals and organisations who are encouraging people to look after their communities and protect the natural environment — starting with a visit to Caernarfon Coastguard Search and Rescue,” the tweet read.

It also included a video of the Duke and Duchess getting out of a helicopter.

Just a matter of months ago, the Kensington Palace social media accounts managed both the Cambridges and the Sussexes, however that changed when William and Harry decided to split their household.

Harry and Meghan Markle are now managed by a separate team run out of Buckingham Palace, and they themselves have moved out of Kensington Palace - where the Cambridges still live - in favour of a country cottage on the Queen’s Windsor Castle estate.

Over in Windsor, Harry and Meghan could hardly contain their joy as they posed for their very first photos as a family.

Addressing the media, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, couldn’t contain her joy as she was asked how her first few days with the baby were going.

"It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy,” she said.

Prince Harry added, "It's only been two and a half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”

The duke was dressed in a grey suit for the occasion, while Meghan was dressed in a white, Givenchy frock - the same designer responsible for her wedding dress.

The later revealed they’ve named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
