Karl Stefanovic's bizarre gag while announcing nephew's arrival live on air

He’s the controversial TV host who’s known for causing a stir in the mornings on the Today show couch.

And now Karl Stefanovic has made a bizarre comment live on air, just after his brother, Peter Stefanovic and sister-in-law, Sylvia Jeffreys announcement the arrival of their baby boy.

“This is magnificent news. My gorgeous brother Peter and my even more gorgeous sister-in-law Sylvia have welcomed a beautiful little boy into the world,” Karl started.

His co-host, Allison Langdon, then stepped in saying: “Personality!”

Karl continued saying: “Congratulations to you both. Lots of love from everyone here at the Today show... Well done, Sylvia.”

Sylvia took to her Instagram account on Thursday morning to share her joyful baby news with her followers.

Sharing an adorable snap of the brand new bub, Sylvia revealed the baby’s name and a sweet message of love to her first child.

“Our beautiful boy, Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic,” she wrote.

“3.4kg, deep blue eyes and perfectly healthy. He’s absolute magic.”

New dad Peter also shared the happy news, his delight palpable in a sweet caption.

“We’ve got our own Oscar!” he captioned the snap of mum and bub, adding he is ‘unbelievably proud’ of wife Sylvia.

“Love is strong. Life is fantastic,” he signed the post off.
