Karen Gillan, Hugh Bonneville Get Handsy in Britbox Drama Douglas Is Cancelled — 2025 FIRST LOOK (Exclusive)
We’ve got a (literally) touching sneak peek for you in the latest installment of TVLine’s month-long #2025FirstLook, courtesy of some Doctor Who and Downton Abbey faves.
The exclusive clip above is from Karen Gillan and Hugh Bonneville’s Douglas Is Cancelled, which is coming to Britbox in March. The drama hails from Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Doctor Who) and, per the official logline, is “a timely series about gender politics and trial by social media.”

Bonneville and Gillan star as Douglas and Madeline, co-anchors of a TV-news broadcast. When Douglas is accused on social media of making a sexist joke at a wedding, all hell breaks loose.
The online tumult doesn’t appear to have reached its peak, though, as the sneak peek starts. Madeline and Douglas are, instead, clasping hands as they chat, though Douglas seems highly weirded out by his co-worker’s bizarre way of connecting.
“You mean people might think we’re… having an affair?!” she says incredulously without letting go. “Well,” he stammers. “What people?” she wonders. “Blind people?!” (Ouch, Madeline.)
Eventually, their producer Toby (The Crown‘s Ben Miles) stops by — and immediately thinks what Douglas is afraid he would — but there are bigger problems afoot: Namely, “this tweeting situation.” Don’t worry, he also falls prey to one of Madeline’s razor-sharp take-downs.
The four-episode series’ cast also includes Alex Kingston (ER), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) and Simon Russell Beale (House of the Dragon).
Douglas Is Cancelled will begin streaming on Britbox on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Do you plan to watch? Let us know in the comments!
