Julie Bishop savaged for $32K dress

Julie Bishop looked amazing in a jewel and feather-embellished gown at this year’s Mid Winter Ball in Canberra, but many on social media are still gaping at just how much it actually costs.

The dress, that was dipped in purple at the end, was designed by Aussie Rachel Gilbert, and comes with a hefty price tag of $32,000.

Yes, that's the cost of a pretty decent new car - or as one person pointed out on Twitter, just a little below the nation's minimum wage, which is around $35K.

The glamorous Mid Winter Ball she was attending was definitly an occaion to dress up for, but as it's held for charity, some people on social media were branding Ms Bishop as “out of touch”.

One user even pointed out that her dress cost almost 10 per cent of the total amount raised at the charity event.

But of course, the minister wasn’t the only one looking glamorous at the ball, and she still hasn't topped Melania Trump who recently wore a $51K coat while out and about in Italy!
