Julie Bishop, 66, slammed for wearing $2.5k black gown: 'Sickening'
Julie Bishop has stepped out in yet another fashionable ensemble.
The politician, 66, attended a David Jones Bourke Street celebration on Wednesday in a slinky fitted gown.
Choosing to support local Australian designers, the former foreign minister donned a strapless black number that showed off her incredible figure.
The Toni Maticeviski Nightshift gown boasts ruffles down the right side with a sultry thigh-high split.
The material is covered with tiny sparkling tiles with an asymmetrical hemline, which may contribute to the eye-watering $2,800 price tag.

According to Maticeviski’s website, this particular gown is made in Melbourne.
Julie also opted to go with a Bianca Spender blazer, choosing the $625 Black Crepe Jacquette.
The cape-like design added an air of elegance while allowing her to show off her toned arms.
Keeping her makeup natural and light, she had her hair slicked back in a sleek hairstyle that complemented her dress.
She finished her look off with a pair of tall black pumps, jewelled drop earrings and a handbag covered in diamantés.
While some praised Julie for her ‘stunning’ look, others were concerned with how much she spent on the outfit.
“Imagine what that kind of money could do? Help a few people out with electricity bills for example,” one person wrote on social media.
“Julie Bishop flaunting herself again while people are struggling. Just sickening,” another added.
“When you’ve got the money, anyone can look glam. Good for her!” added a third.
This comes after the politician was slammed for wearing a $715 Hermes scarf and $38,000 Louis Vuitton earrings to the Australian Women’s Weekly Women of the Future Awards.
She wore a crisp, white blazer with black pants, and finished her look off with a bright silk Hermes scarf draped over her shoulder.
People couldn’t believe how expensive her outfit cost, with many criticising her on social media.
“How contemptible that it is OK for her to flaunt her wealth,” one wrote.
“$715 would feed me for a couple of months,” a second pointed out.
“Who needs a $715 scarf? I’ll answer that. No one. Greed, privilege, entitlement — three of the many human behaviour-related reasons the planet is doomed,” added another.
