Joy Behar got into 'fight' with her husband after accidentally opening her own Christmas gift: 'Am I right?'

Santa Claus came early to Joy Behar’s house — and now she’s paying the price for it.

The comedian took a moment during Friday’s episode of The View to ask her cohosts if she was in the wrong for arguing with her husband Steve Janowitz after she accidentally opened one of her own Christmas presents.

“So I had a fight with my husband this morning, wanna hear about it?” Behar asked the Hot Topics table. “Anybody interested?”

The 82-year-old prefaced her story by stating that she doesn’t “fight with [her husband] a lot,” but that their squabble occurred after she opened an Amazon package thinking it was for her. Behar explained that she's been slowly accruing presents this season from the e-commerce website and hiding them all in a secret spot in her home.

“Today, I see an unopened box in this bag sitting on the dining room table, right?” She said. “I say, ‘Oh, it must’ve come and I’m gonna open it.’”

Behar admitted that she didn’t look for any writing on it before tearing into the package. “I assumed it was coming because I order from Amazon,” she said. “So, I open the box and in it is this wonderful thing that I remember saying, ‘Oh, what a nice gift this would be for moi.’”

The item? A pair of zoom lens binoculars with the ability to take both photos and videos. “You could video tape…” Behar said, before her cohost Sara Haines completed her sentence by jokingly adding, “…Your neighbors and things.”

Behar teased, “Not only your neighbors — what about all the drones over New Jersey?”

Her costars had a few questions about her story. “When you opened it, did you think to yourself, ‘Oh, I ordered this?’” Ana Navarro asked, to which Behar replied, “I had a vague recollection that I said I want this, but maybe I ordered it? I don’t remember everything I do!”

It isn’t until she was brushing her teeth this morning that she learned that she had, in fact, not purchased the binoculars. “[Janowitz] comes in the bathroom: ‘Why did you open that gift? That was for you!’” Behar said. “‘Oh,’ I said, ‘You mean you bought that for me?’ I said, ‘I didn’t know!’ [And he said,] ‘Well, you should mind your business and keep your nose out of my stuff.’ Like that!”

Behar didn’t believe she was the only one at fault, though. “My argument is: if you are trying to hide a gift, hide the gift!” She said. “Don’t leave it where I can find it! Am I right about that?”

Navarro voiced her support for Janowitz. “It’s incredibly thoughtful and charming that Steve remembered that you vaguely mentioned one time that you liked this object and he took the time to order it, because I’m sure buying for you is not easy,” Navarro said. “Can we give the guy a little slack?”

Behar responded, “Why? I love a flower, I love a perfume, I love a candle.”

She concluded, “Anyway, the end of this whole story is I said, ‘Look, let’s give it to [her grandson] Luca.’ And he said, ‘No, you’re getting it whether you want it or not.’”

Sunny Hostin also sided with Janowitz in the end. “You’re in the wrong,” she told Behar, “because you don’t open up boxes that don’t have your name on it.” Haines added, “I agree, Sunny!”
