Josh Gad calls out “The View”'s hilariously loud, intrusive air conditioning noise during live interview: 'So distracting'
Noise phantoms — which have long plagued "The View" — have made their grand return to the show at the top of the year.
Just when all seemed (relatively) quiet on the set of The View — with bangs, booms, flood-inducing raspberries, Joy Behar's cell phone, and even God himself all going uncharacteristically silent on the talk show's set in recent weeks — the show's air conditioning system armed its aural army to terrorize interview guest Josh Gad.
The Frozen voice actor stopped by the show to promote his new book, In Gad We Trust, and as he reflected on his personal history, he called out a persistent clanking noise that rattled throughout the show's set, and could be heard at multiple points throughout the live broadcast — even beyond his interview.
"My story was, my parents got divorced when I was six," Gad said, before pausing to ask, "Is there like, a legal typer in here right now? I hear somebody."
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin laughed as she told the star, "It's our AC. It gets me every time," while Behar joked, "Josh, it's the rats in the ceiling!"
The interview continued, though Gad later pointed out the noise once again, telling the panelists: "It's so distracting."
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for The View for comment.
Gad's bout with The View's sonic terrors follows a wave of mischievous noise-based entities that have popped up on the show in the recent past, including the aforementioned fart noise that preceded what can only be described as a biblical flood at the Hot Topics table in 2023, as well as a mysterious back-stage noisemaker who was so loud that moderator Whoopi Goldberg had to shout at them to be quiet while she was still seated on the main stage.

Elsewhere in the interview, Gad also spoke about the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires as "the worst thing" he's ever lived through, and indicated that he's donating proceeds from In Gad We Trust to recovery efforts.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
