When you're competing in the Olympics, you want to make sure you're getting 10s across the board for your fashion. No one understands that more than Jordan Chiles.

During the Games last summer, the American gymnast, 23, could be pinpointed on the floor with her sparkly outfits, bold glam (she once revealed her beauty routine with more than 30 steps to Vogue) and her signature nails. And while she was busy giving it her all in the style department, she was also dishing out sartorial advice to her teammates — no gatekeeping here.

"Jordan's definitely the style girl. If you ever need any advice on what to wear, when to wear it, how to wear it, definitely go to Jordan. I think not only me, but a lot of us would go to Jordan to be like, okay, do I wear this or does this look cute? I give that all to Jordan," Chiles' fellow gymnast, 24-year-old Jade Carey, tells PEOPLE in a joint interview for their new partnership with Barbie.

Chiles is well aware of her status as the fashionista in the group, "Once I started figuring out... I would get texts being like, 'Hey, I don't know what to wear with this,' then I started to realize. I love fashion. I love being able to show my personality in many different forms and knowing that I could help my teammates out at times," responds Chiles, who released her memoir I'm That Girl: Living the Power of My Dreams on March 4.

"I'm going to be honest with you and not let you walk out with two different socks on. I'm going to always make sure they look nice, they look presentable in ways that they feel comfortable. That's how fashion is, you want to feel comfortable, beautiful and like you just conquered the red carpet."

Even now, Chiles says the one member on Team USA who will still reach out for tips is Simone Biles. "I will still get texts from Simone and she's like, 'Okay, so I don't know if this goes with this. What do I do?'"

After Paris, Chiles and Biles went on to perform in the Gold Over America Tour, a  “pop concert-style spectacle” spanning over 30 cities.

"It's really fun because that's just something that I get to enjoy and focus my mind on something that's not just my sport," Chiles continues on her love for fashion.

Back in September when PEOPLE caught up with Chiles at an event celebrating her partnership with Vaseline, she opened up about how she and Biles, 27, would exchange makeup and beauty recommendations as they were getting ready together in the Olympic Village.

"We were just kind of bouncing ideas off of each other," she said. "[Biles] was like, 'Ooh, do I need to put more blush here?' and I was like, 'Do I need to put more highlight here?'" She also admitted: "I think I did take some of her lip gloss or something like that."
