JoJo Siwa Reveals What She Thinks Makes or Breaks a Bold Look: 'Down to Try Anything' (Exclusive)

In her episode of PEOPLE’s ‘Rules for Life’ series, the singer revealed what makes a JoJo Siwa-coded look

JoJo Siwa is completely okay with disrupting the status quo with her outfits.

"I think for me, when I’m finding a style, it's 'How can I be so messed up, so weird, so whack?' That, for me, is something I have a lot of fun with,” the Dance Moms alum says in a new episode of PEOPLE's Rules for Life series.

Making heads turn is often her goal and she always wants others to ask themselves, “Why is she wearing that, what is she doing, what is she wearing now?” when they see her looks. “It’s a fun game for me to play,” she adds.

And while clothes are a great avenue for Siwa to express her creativity, so is makeup, which she thinks can make an outfit that much more "memorable."

“That truly has the potential to truly make or break a look, whether you’re afraid to go to that next level or not.”

Siwa often puts this philosophy into practice on stage and off, from being bedazzled in head-to-toe rainbow gemstones at LA Pride to decked out in KISS-inspired rockstar glam.

You also would’ve seen her pull off glittery green makeup at the Christian Cowan New York Fashion Week show on Sept. 8 (because even if you weren’t there, her getup — a furry costume with lime green monster boots — sure made a splash online).

“Me wearing the fur ball is crazy, but the green makeup is what took it over the edge,” she said in reference to the neon eyeshadow she wore on her lids and eyebrows.

At the end of the day, Siwa is pretty much “down to try anything.”

“I’m like, think of as weird as you can get, or as crazy you can do or something you’re too afraid to have ever done before and that’s what I want to do.”
