"This Is So Pathetic": Fans React To John Stamos Wearing A Fake Bald Cap To Support Dave Coulier During His Cancer Diagnosis
John Stamos thought of a playful way to support his Full House costar and friend, Dave Coulier, during his cancer diagnosis, but many fans are calling it distasteful.
Dave was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He told People that he received the diagnosis last month after "an upper respiratory infection caused major swelling in his lymph nodes."
The 65-year-old actor is widely known for portraying Joey Gladstone on the hit NBC family sitcom Full House for eight seasons from 1987–1995. He would later reprise his role in the 2016 Netflix reboot Fuller House for five seasons.
On Monday, Dave debuted a bald head alongside his pal John. The carousel of photos showed John, whose Full House character Jesse Katsopolis was obsessed with his hair, sporting a bald cap.
Included in the set was an image of John helping Dave shave his head, as well as a sweet moment of John and Dave's wife Melissa kissing his freshly bald head.
John captioned the post: "Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier."
"You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity," he added. "It’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you."
Dave shared the post on his personal Instagram as well. Despite his heartfelt message, people in the comments shared mixed reactions, with some calling John out for the "performative" act, while others applauded their friendship.
