The pair were first spotted together in June 2021 and welcomed their son Malcolm Hiệp five months later. In July 2024, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at a friend’s house in New York, with Sam Waterston marrying the pair and just Malcolm and one other witness in attendance. Two months later, the couple welcomed their second child together, daughter Méi June.
In March 2024, Munn announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer a year prior. The following month, she opened up to PEOPLE about how the scary news affected her parenting and relationship with her husband.
“It would’ve felt like climbing an iceberg without him,” said Munn, who endured four surgeries over 10 months. She called Mulaney a huge support and "an incredibly hands-on father," recalling how he would go "to and from the hospital—taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me," she said. "And he did it all happily."

Now, the family of four spends time playing and traveling together. Here’s everything to know about John Mulaney and Olivia Munn’s kids: Malcolm and Méi.
Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, 3
Munn and Mulaney welcomed their first child together, Malcolm Hiệp, on Nov. 24, 2021. The pair introduced their newborn to the world a month later, each posting a photo of him sleeping on Instagram.
"My Golden Ox baby. Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney," Munn captioned her post, while Mulaney wrote, “He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn't even tried seltzer yet. I'm very in love with him and his whole deal."
Munn revealed in a November 2024 interview with GQ that she and Mulaney “barely knew” each other when she got pregnant. "It wasn't necessarily, 'We're going to be married and live together' or any of that, but it was 'I'll be involved in some way,' ” she said.
However, two months before Malcolm was born, the pair decided to try raising their son as a couple. Three years later, Munn and Mulaney tied the knot in a private ceremony.
In October 2022, Munn shared that Malcolm was learning how to speak. The Newsroom star is also teaching her son how to speak Mandarin. A year after he first started talking, Munn shared a video of Malcolm repeating words from a Mandarin book that her friend Ali Wong gifted to him.
Munn and Mulaney celebrated Malcolm’s first birthday in November 2022 by presenting him with a chocolate cake while on a family vacation. “Just got back from celebrating ONE YEAR of the most joyful baby being in this world and in our lives," she wrote in the caption of a carousel of photos. "My son, my joy. Happiest Birthday, Malcolm Hiệp! I love you so so so much."
After her breast cancer diagnosis, Munn said on Good Morning America that she wanted to document her journey because of Malcolm.
“If I didn’t make it, I wanted my son when he got older to know that I fought to be here. That I tried my best,” she said. Munn later opened up to PEOPLE about how undergoing a double mastectomy initially affected her ability to be as hands-on with Malcolm.
Returning home three days after her surgery, "Malcolm runs up and he said, 'Mama, pick [me] up?' " she said. “And I said, 'Oh I can't pick you up.' And I squatted down to give him a hug, and then he just sat on my leg and goes, 'But Mama, pick [me] up!' That was probably one of the hardest things because all you want to do is pick up your baby."
Munn added, “When I'm with Malcolm, it's really the only time your brain doesn't think about that you're sick. I'm just so happy with him. I'm just so happy in life. I mean, he's just the most fun little person."
After Munn and Mulaney welcomed their daughter in September 2024, the comedian told PEOPLE that the toddler was settling well into being a big brother.
“He likes it. It's interesting, with our daughter, she's two months old so she doesn't do much,” Mulaney said. “And I think the first couple of weeks he thought she might be a toy because she'd squeak and he'd be like, ‘How do I make it do that again?’ Now I think he gets it, that this is a little girl.”
Two months after Méi’s arrival, Munn and Mulaney celebrated Malcolm turning 3. The actress posted a photo of her and Malcolm wearing robes while he sat on a marble countertop to celebrate the occasion.
“Magic Malc turns 3 today 🥹 🎂 This photo was taken last year just around the time I found out I had breast cancer,” she wrote in the caption. “I remember this time fondly all because of this little boy. He’s made me stronger and softer in ways I never knew I could be. Happiest Birthday my sweet boy. You cracked my heart wide open.”
Méi June Mulaney
Mulaney and Munn welcomed their second child, Méi June, via gestational surrogate on Sept. 14, 2024. A few days later, the mom of two announced their happy news on Instagram by sharing a family photo from the hospital.
"Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon🐉," she wrote in the caption. "I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel.”
Munn concluded her post by sharing the meaning behind Méi's name. "I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded," she wrote before adding, "Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese 梅💜."
After Munn and Mulaney welcomed Méi, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that the pair were happy to be a family of four. "They are in total bliss with Méi and Malcolm," the insider said. "After everything they have been through there’s no tighter, closer little family.”
Munn often shares monthly updates on her newborn. In October 2024, the Love Wedding Repeat actress posted on her Instagram Stories about how much Méi enjoys sleeping.
"She sleeps, like, all the time," Munn said. "I know that newborns sleep a lot, but she's an extra sleeper." The actress added, "And an extra eater. She was almost eight pounds when she was born."
That same month, Munn also shared a glimpse at Méi’s first Halloween costume. The Predator star dressed up as an Omakase chef, while Mei wore salmon, tuna and egg-colored onesies to appear as a piece of sushi as she rested on a “rice” pillow.
