Will Joey Potter's home live to see another summer?

The Wilmington, N.C. house that Katie Holmes' Dawson's Creek character called home is up for auction. The terms make it questionable that the right buyer will show up in the limited time frame offered.

"This charming waterfront home, featured prominently in the hit late ‘90s/early 2000s series, is instantly recognizable to fans worldwide and holds a special place in pop culture," the listing for the home reads.

The catch, however, is that it is a personal property auction. In other words, the home itself is for sale, but not the land it's set on. It was moved a few years back from one side of the property it currently rests on to the other.

"The house MUST be moved from its current location. The land is NOT included in the sale. The winning bidder will be responsible for all costs and logistics associated with relocating the structure."

In a 2023 interview with Glamour, Holmes opened up about filming the teen drama, which she signed on to at 18.

"I felt like, as a teenager, I had so many different feelings, trying to go from being a girl to a woman," Holmes said. "And I felt like [creator Kevin Williamson] had this way of putting words to those feelings."

She continued, "So for me, playing that role, I was like, Oh, that's what that means. Oh, I get that. I loved doing it. It was a really fun, profound experience."

Dawson's Creek aired for six seasons between 1998 and 2003. Despite wrapping up nearly 20 years ago, the show still has a loyal following — and new fans.

Holmes once explained why it's "pretty wild" to her that the show has a litany of new loyalties in a conversation on The Jess Cagle Show.

"I mean, I'm kind of amazed that people are connecting to it — only because the world was, it was right before phones and ... before the internet really took off and social media, and life now is so different than the simplicity that was portrayed between this group of friends."
