Joan Vassos Named First 'Golden Bachelorette'

After months of rumor and speculation, we finally know the lucky lady who will star as the first Golden Bachelorette.

Joan Vassos, the 61-year-old school administrator from Rockville, Md., who self-eliminated from Gerry Turner's inaugural season will star in the female-led spinoff.

ABC made the announcement Tuesday during Disney's upfront presentation in NYC.

Vassos was an early frontrunner in the inaugural season but she walked away in week 3 to take care of a family emergency. (Her daughter was struggling following a complicated C-section.)
