Simpson's sobriety anniversary comes just a few months after she shut down a hater who told her to "stop drinking" in the comments on an Instagram post back in August.

At the time, Simpson clapped back at the hater, writing in response, "I haven't wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I've made for myself and for my family."

She then thanked the commenter for their "concern," but declared, "you have me very misunderstood."

"Sending love your way," she added.

Back in 2021, Simpson shared a vulnerable post about her sobriety to Instagram. She uploaded a photo from 2017 that she called an "unrecognizable version" of herself.

"There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic," she candidly expressed at the time. "The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage. The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do."

"I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad," Simpson continued. "I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free."
