Former Packed to the Rafters co-stars Jessica Marais and James Stewart have split after six years together.
"Jessica Marais and James Stewart have amicably separated,” a rep for the couple said in a statement this afternoon. "Their main focus at this time is the co-parenting of their daughter and they ask that media respect their privacy.”
The pair, who have a three-year-old daughter Scout, 3, met on the set of Seven’s hit drama in 2009 and became engaged in October 2010.
Rumours of a split emerged when the couple skipped this year’s Logie Awards, despite Marais’ nominations for her roles in Love Child and Carlotta. One local magazine also reported the pair celebrated Scout’s third birthday on May 9 separately.
“After having her, I feel like Jimmy and I can do anything now,” the new-mum, 30, told WHO shortly after welcoming her daughter.
Stewart, 39, who has praised Marais as a “fantastic mum," took on stay-at-home dad duties when the actress returned to work after giving birth on the Miami-based US drama Magic City. “I was a house-husband, I suppose, for two and a half years and I loved it,” he told WHO in 2014. “One of us is always with our daughter. We don’t want to be two working parents and never see her.”
Speaking to WHO in January, Stewart said he would like more kids and addressed whether a wedding was on the cards this year, saying, “We’ll see."
