Jessi Ngatikaura Weighs in on Zac Affleck's Family Connection to Ben Affleck as Questions Are Raised About Their Relation
Jessi Ngatikaura shared her thoughts on Zac Affleck's family connection on the 'Scheananigans' podcast with Scheana Shay
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jessi Ngatikaura is addressing Zac and Jen Affleck's connection to Ben Affleck after questions were raised about their familial relation.
During an episode of the Scheananigans podcast with Scheana Shay on Sept. 27, the 32-year-old star recalled how her fellow MomTok member Jen's name first "got attention" because of the potential family connection to Ben and Casey Affleck.
"I remember all of us girls were on a trip and all of a sudden our managers were calling us," she said. "People wanted to talk about the Ben Affleck relation and it blew up."
However, since the show's premiere on Sept. 6, online genealogy sleuths have questioned Zac's relation to the famous actor, claiming there is no family connection.
A source familiar with the Utah Affleck family told PEOPLE exclusively that the relationship between the Utah Afflecks and the Boston Afflecks "is absolutely not true."
"There's no relationship," the source said. "Zac Affleck is her husband. [His father] is David Affleck. Zac's grandfather is Gordon Affleck. Zac's great-grandparents — which would [establish] second cousins — his name is Alan Burt Affleck. Then Ben's dad is Tim Affleck. His grandfather is Myron Junior. His great-grandparent is Myron Senior. No, Alan Burt and Myron Senior aren't brothers or anything,"
Reps for Jen and Zac and Hulu declined to comment on the matter. PEOPLE has also reached out to representatives for Ben and Casey Affleck.
During the podcast, Jessi said that while she doesn't know more about the Affleck family connection, she added that she "could see a world where Zac told [Jen] that and she believed it."
"I don't think Jen would lie about that, but maybe he could," she continued. "We've seen a little bit of how he can be, so there could be that."
On The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the MomTok members expressed concern for Jen over Zac's behavior with her, especially after the Chippendale incident at Layla Taylor's 23rd birthday. Fellow MomTok member Demi Engemann notably defended Jen over Zac's overreactions.
Although Jen and Zac's struggles were highlighted on the series, the series ended with Jen officially leaving the MomTok group and the couple moving to New York so Zac could attend medical school.
In the last episode, Jessi told fellow MomTok member Demi Engemann that "[Zac] doesn't want her associated with us. I am really sad that this is just a continuous pattern that's not getting better."

On Sept. 15, the couple lip-synced to High School Musical 2's "Gotta Go My Own Way," in a TikTok featuring the text, "us everytime I tell him I want to move back to Utah."
The caption also teased their return to Utah, writing, "we moving back or staying? Stay tuned to find out.. @secretlivesonhulu."
