Jesse Garcia & Jess Weixler To Topline Crime Thriller ‘Tender’
EXCLUSIVE: Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot) and Jess Weixler (Teeth) have signed on to star in Tender, a crime thriller set to enter production in Los Angeles this week.
Written and directed by Adam Hoelzel (Beast of Burden), the film centers on a couple struggling with a failing marriage and mounting debts that stumbles upon a hidden fortune of gold within the walls of their home, leading them to concoct a risky plan to sell it and solve their financial troubles.

Others in the cast include Robert Longstreet (Sorry to Bother You), Shakira Barrera (GLOW), Mark St. Cyr (The Menu), Sonja O’Hara (Mid-Century), Keli Price (Murder at Hollow Creek), Stephen Ellis (Hail, Caesar!), Robert Peters (Lincoln) and Alexander Cubis (Tyler Perry’s Ruthless).
Sofia Rovaletti (Mid-Century), O’Hara (Doomsday), Farrell Ingle (Subject 19), Keli Price (Bandit), Theo Bucksey (Morrow Road), Roy Hsu and Grayson Hay will produce alongside Corey Moosa (Margin Call), David Hopwood (Power), Michael K. Dwyer’s A Group of Ferrets, and Juan Pablo Reinoso’s Firebook.
Best known for starring in Eva Longoria’s directorial debut Flamin’ Hot for Searchlight, Garcia’s other feature credits include Netflix’s hit action thriller The Mother starring Jennifer Lopez, Tell It Like a Woman, The Starling, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and The Avengers. In television, he’s most recently been seen recurring on ABC’s Not Dead Yet, also appearing on shows like Snowfall, Narcos: Mexico and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.
On the film side, Wexler’s credits include Ava opposite Jessica Chastain, It Chapter Two, The Death of Dick Long from Everything Everywhere Oscar winner Daniel Scheinert, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, the indie body horror Teeth and more. TV credits include The Son and The Good Wife.
Tender marks the feature directorial debut of Hoelzel, who previously scripted the crime actioner Beast of Burden starring Daniel Radcliffe.
