Morgan revealed he was working on a series take on “The Boys From Brazil” in an interview with Variety in 2024. The novel was originally published in 1976 and was subsequently turned into a film starring Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier in 1978.

In the novel, Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann receives a tip that the notorious Dr. Josef Mengele is alive and living under an assumed name in Brazil. Liebermann travels to the South American country to track down the so called “Angel of Death” only to discover a sinister conspiracy at work.

According to sources, Strong would star as Liebermann, who was played by Olivier in the film.

The role will mark Strong’s first series regular role since the end of the hit HBO series “Succession,” on which Strong starred as Kendall Roy throughout its four season run at the premium cabler. Strong received widespread praise for his work on the show, including an Emmy win for best actor in a drama series out of three total nominations. He also won the Golden Globe Award in the same category for the series in 2022. Currently, Strong is up for his first Academy Award for playing Roy Cohn in the film “The Apprentice” starring Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump. Strong is also known for his roles in films like “The Big Short,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” and “Parkland.”

Like “Succession,” “The Crown” concluded its run in 2023. The latter show ran for six seasons, with Morgan serving as showrunner. It is one of the most acclaimed shows in the Netflix library, with the series winning 24 Emmys out of 94 total nominations, including a win for best drama series in 2021. Morgan is also known for the Oscar nominated films “The Queen” and “Frost/Nixon” as well as films like “The Last King of Scotland,” “Rush,” and “The Other Boleyn Girl.”
