Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants to Be the 'Ghost of '90s Past' in “I Know What You Did Last Summer” Reboot
The 1997 horror movie is getting a reboot with "an amazing young cast"
Jennifer Love Hewitt is eager for the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The actress, who played Julie James in the original, shared an update on the reboot while on the Jennifer Hudson Show Tuesday, Dec. 11.
“I can’t say much, I’m not officially in it yet, but I’m close,” Hewitt, 45, said, as a shot from the original movie showed on the screen behind her. “Oh my gosh, there is 1997. That’s scary. But It’s going to be really good.”
Fans were kept on the edge of their seats as they watched four teens being targeted by a murderer with a hook in the original 1997 movie. The stalking begins on the one-year anniversary that the group began hiding that they accidentally killed someone.
Hewitt teased that the 2025 reboot will be “really fun,” but avoided revealing if it will have the same storyline.

“It won’t be the same without you,” host Jennifer Hudson said.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was loosely based on Lois Duncan’s novel released in 1973. Following the success of the 1997 movie, the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1998, and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer followed in 2006. Prime Video debuted a reboot series titled I Know What You Did Last Summer in 2021.

Hewitt, who stars in the festive new movie The Holiday Junkie, revealed on the I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario podcast that scheduling issues have delayed reprising her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer.
