Jennifer Lopez previously made a splash in Miami following her and Ben Affleck's decision to postpone their wedding last minute in 2003.

While the couple would go on to break up in January 2004 — before rekindling their romance 17 years later and then, recently, splitting once again — they announced in a statement in September 2003 that they would be postponing their marriage, four days before the wedding was set to take place.

"Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date," Affleck and Lopez said in the statement at the time, adding in part, "We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends."

Amid the postponement announcement, Lopez was spotted in Miami Beach, rocking a tiny white eyelet bikini as she splashed around in the waves. Later that night, she went to a movie, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and out clubbing at locations including Crobar and Opium Garden/Prive.

Meanwhile, Affleck was spotted at the time dining at Baja Fresh restaurant in the Los Angeles area.

The actress and singer has yet to be spotted since the news of her divorce filing from Affleck made headlines on Tuesday, Aug. 20. This was their first marriage to one another, following the initial engagement that ended in 2004 and 2021 reunion that eventually led to their wedding in 2022.

Affleck stepped out without his wedding ring as he headed to an office building in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Oscar winner was photographed walking in the parking lot of the building while wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans and black-tinted sunglasses.

He has been spotted on several other occasions at the same office building in recent weeks as he spent the summer apart from Lopez, amid reports of the pair's marital strain.

Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Lopez filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday — which marked the second anniversary of the pair's Georgia wedding celebration. The Atlas star filed without an attorney, and listed a separation date of April 26, 2024.

A source told PEOPLE on Tuesday that Lopez’s decision to divorce Affleck has left her “disappointed and sad," though she feels “it’s time to move on.”

"Ben hasn't given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage," the latter insider said. "He hasn't shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work."

Added the source, "It's gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself."
