Jennifer Lopez Takes Sheer Trend to Met Gala 2024 Red Carpet in Butterfly-inspired Schiaparelli Dress
Jennifer Lopez embraced the 2024 Met Gala theme, “The Garden of Time,” in a custom Schiaparelli couture dress. The singer arrived at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, wearing a sheer sheath-embroidered gown from the Italian house.
Lopez’s strapless gown was designed by Daniel Roseberry and featured more than 2,500,000 silver foil bugles and beads. The ensemble took 800 hours of hand embroidery work to create.

The dress also featured a draped slit at the front in illusion tulle, entirely embroidered with warm silver pearls and rhinestones.
Lopez completed her outfit with satin platform sandals, gold clutch, a diamond necklace and diamond earrings.
Lopez debuted on the Met Gala red carpet in 2004, when she wore a black sheer dress from Dolce & Gabbana. Since then, the star has been dressed by Versace, Marchesa, Alberta Ferretti, Zuhair Murad, Gucci, Michael Kors, Valentino and Balmain while attending the event over the years. In 2023, she wore a custom dress by Ralph Lauren.
Lopez was chosen as one of this year’s Met Gala co-chairs, joining Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth.
The Met Gala raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” nods to the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit, which will open to the public on Friday. The 2024 event is notably co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour.
