Lynsey Addario – Pulitzer prize-winning photojournalist, New York Times bestselling author and marie claire Australia contributor – is soon to be immortalised in film. The actress playing her? None other than everyone’s favourite cool girl: Jennifer Lawrence.
Lawrence, 24 will play Addario in the film adaptation of the photographer’s recently published memoir It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War (Corsair, $29.99). Steven Spielberg will direct the film and Warner Bros Studios will produce after closing a highly-contested deal that had bidders from all corners of Hollywood.
The A-listers who missed out include Natalie Portman (Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky and studio Working Title were behind her bid), Margot Robbie and The Weinstein Company, who wanted George Clooney to direct. But JLaw and Spielberg closed the deal, with filming set to commence on the war biopic later this year.
What might the film contain? Addario’s memoir covers her time photographring conflict in Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Libya and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
