Jennifer Aniston Shared a Throwback Tribute to Matthew Perry a Year After His Death
She brought the Central Perk crew back together again.
A year after Matthew Perry’s death, Jennifer Aniston headed to social media to pay tribute to her late Friends co-star. In a series of emotional throwback photos, The Morning Show actress showed the entire Central Perk crew back together again as she reflected on Perry’s sudden passing.
"1 year ❤️🕊️,” Aniston wrote, sharing a silly black-and-white photo of her and Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the long-running NBC sitcom, clowning around with some food on set. Wearing her signature Rachel hairstyle and a black T-shirt, the actress could be seen pouting at the camera while holding what appeared to be a melon in her hand. Meanwhile, Perry had his arm slung around Aniston and sported a faux serious expression on his face as he posed with a piece of melon in his mouth while gazing off into the distance.
The Just Go With It actress also shared some behind-the-scenes photos from Friends filming, including a shot of Perry kissing her on the forehead and an image of the pair of them hugging fellow Friends co-stars David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc in a circle. Lastly, Aniston posted a candid solo shot of a laughing Perry covering his mouth with one hand.
She tagged the Matthew Perry Foundation, which his family founded shortly after his passing last October. Per the foundation's website, it aims to fund emerging research on the effects of addiction while “providing post-treatment support living with substance abuse disorders.”
Shortly after Perry passed away at 54 on October 28, 2023, from the “acute effects of ketamine," Aniston took to Instagram to open up about grieving the loss of her friend and cast mate.
"Oh boy this one has cut deep...Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before," she shared. Aniston also opened up about the Friends cast’s unique bond, adding, "We loved him deeply. He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.”
