Jenna Ortega recalls last time she saw Cameron Boyce was at an audition he stopped because she was uncomfortable
"He was so sweet because I was uncomfortable and I was having a hard time."
Five years after his death at age 20, Cameron Boyce's friends are still sharing stories of his kindness.
Jenna Ortega, whose in the middle of promoting Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, sat down with costars Catherine O'Hara and Winona Ryder for French TV outlet Canal+ and Ortega recalled the last time she saw Boyce and the sweet gesture he made on her behalf.

"The last time I saw my friend Cameron Boyce — I'd known him since I was like 11 or 12, and we were supposed to kiss [in an audition] and he knew me, since I was 11 or 12. This is a few years later, 15, 16. [He] came in, we were supposed to be love interests," Ortega said.
"But because he obviously felt weird and he was a bit older, he was like — we both just kinda looked at each other and we were like, 'No, we can't do this,'" she continued. "And it was so sweet because I was uncomfortable and I was having a hard time at the audition. And then, we wished each other well."
Ortega added, "I remember being really thankful and grateful that he did that," with O'Hara noting that Boyce was a "gentleman."

The actor died in his sleep in 2019 after having a seizure. Earlier this year, friends paid tribute to Boyce on what would have been his 25th birthday.
Sofia Carson, who shared the screen with Boyce in Disney Channel’s The Descendants movies, shared her own tribute, alongside a photo of the late actor.
"Happy Birthday to our Angel,” she wrote. “I know you’re dancing in heaven. And god are they lucky to have you. Ps. I miss your smile and sunshine a whole lot extra today. Adore you forever my Cam. Forever and ever. And ever.”
