Jay Leno's Wife Mavis Joins Him on the Red Carpet Following Dementia Diagnosis

Jay Leno

Jay Leno and his wife Mavis Leno were out and about for a date night this week!

The longtime couple were all smiles as they attended the premiere of Netflix's Unfrosted, which took place at The Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. on Tuesday, April 30.

Jay and Mavis—who have been married since 1980—looked just as in love as ever while hitting the red carpet for the screening of the new Netflix comedy, which tells a fictional story about the origin of Pop-Tarts.

Jay, 74, was dressed for the outing in a classic grey suit, while sweetly wrapping his arm around Mavis, 77, who was dressed in a patterned long-sleeve top with a blue and red fashion scarf.

The couple's appearance comes just weeks after Jay was granted his request for a conservatorship over his wife's estate in the wake of her diagnosis with "advanced dementia."

Following Jay's request, Mavis' court-appointed counsel Ronald Ostrin had filed a report to formally recommend that the Tonight Show alum serve as his client's conservator. He also noted that Mavis "consents" to the idea of her husband managing her estate, per the docs obtained by PEOPLE.

Ostrin's report also noted that Mavis “sometimes does not know her husband, Jay, nor her date of birth," and that she also has " a lot of disorientation," but that her partnership with Jay is seen as "long-term, loving and supportive."

Mavis' lawyer also shared that his client views Jay as "her protector" whom she "trusts."

Jay and Ostrin attended a hearing in L.A. in early April, where the judge agreed that the former late-night host is "fit" for the role as his wife's conservator.
