Jason Kelce Issues a Blunt Response to Dethroning Mariah Carey as the 'Queen of Christmas'

Jason Kelce is weighing in on how it feels to be the newest "Queen of Christmas."

After releasing his newest holiday hit, "Maybe This Christmas," featuring Stevie Nicks, the retired NFL player dethroned Mariah Carey for the top spot on the iTunes holiday songs chart.

While discussing how it feels to steal the crown from the iconic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" songstress—at least for one week—Kelce said it's a "really special" feeling.

"You know, I’ve fought my whole life to be the Queen of Christmas, and the fact that we’re finally there," the former Eagles player quipped on the latest episode of his and his brother Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast. "It’s just really special."

"Maybe This Christmas," which was released last Friday, Nov. 8, is part of the upcoming album, A Philly Special Christmas, the third installment of the Philadelphia-based NFL team's annual holiday album.

But Kelce, who turned 37 a few days ago, seems to be keenly aware that Carey could easily come back for the No. 1 spot, especially considering her 1994 hit has reached the top of the charts consecutively for the past five years.

“I know we caught it in early November,” Kelce said of the holiday music rush, which will likely spike a lot more as the holiday gets closer. “We’ll see if it holds up throughout the rest of Christmas."

"We kind of caught it on the Christmas downslide. Not too many people are listening to Christmas music, so we jumped up in there," he explained.

But still, Kelce knows it's still an accomplishment to be proud of, regardless of how long he stays at the top.

“I’ll take it where I can get it. It’s pretty amazing," he added.
