Jana Kramer is feeling extra thankful for her baby boy on his first birthday as she looks back at a difficult start to her pregnancy.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the country singer, 40, opened up about her early pregnancy complications with her youngest child, son Roman, as she reflected on the first year of his life. In an emotional Instagram post, the proud mom of three revealed that at 8 weeks pregnant, she discovered there was a "50/50 chance I would miscarry."

"On the eve of Roman’s first birthday I’m feeling all the emotions but mostly just so grateful," Kramer began in her caption. "Around 8 weeks pregnant I started to heavily bleed. I started to cry as I knew just what was happening as I’ve miscarried multiple times before in my past. I was shocked when we saw a heartbeat later that day."

She continued to explain that the blood came from a "subchronic hemorrhage," and "because the hemorrhage was bigger than the baby at the time, there was a 50/50 chance I would miscarry."

Kramer notes she couldn't have gotten through this different experience without the optimistic outlook of her husband, Allan Russell.

"I’m so thankful for Allan because he heard the positive side of it … but all I heard was I’m going to lose the baby," she admitted. "For the next 8-10 weeks I would see blood and for anyone that has miscarried you know it’s the most uneasy thing to see when you’re pregnant."

"But the hemorrhage went away and Roman kept growing," she shared, but unfortunately the issues didn't end there. "Then there was the fibroid that kept growing that we were told could interrupt the placenta."

"Everyday I prayed so hard for this sweet baby to just keep on beating. So when it was time to write on the foundation of our house our prayers and scripture we love, all I kept thinking was just 'keep on beating baby,' " she revealed alongside a picture of the quote written in Sharpie on a wooden door frame.

Kramer concluded her caption with a message to other hopeful mothers: "I have had multiple miscarriages and it isn’t lost on me I got pregnant the very first month we tried. I hope no matter what age, or how long it’s taking, or if you have had loses, that you never lose hope. I know it’s not easy though and I’m sorry… but I can promise you that God and their heartbeats will always find a way."

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Kramer shared a sweet video montage of Roman's first year, wishing him a happy birthday in the caption.

"Happy 1st birthday to our Roman. It has been the greatest year loving you," she wrote. "You were the missing piece we didn’t even know was missing , and then you came and we now are complete ..♥️ We love you so much."

In addition to son Roman, Kramer is a mom to Jolie, 8, and son Jace, 5, with ex Mike Caussin.
