James Stewart talks co-parenting with ex-partner Jessica Marais

Although Jessica Marais and James Stewart called time on their relationship a year ago, the pair simply want what's best for their daughter, Scout.

"It doesn't matter who you are, where you're from, what you do - family is everything," James said in an interview with New Idea.

James and Jessica recently got together to celebrate Scout's fourth birthday.

The Home And Away star shared an adorable family snap from his Instagram account wishing his daughter all the best.

Despite splitting from Scout's mum, James says they couple remain on good terms for the sake of Scout.

"Once you realise it's about Scout, everything's easy," he explains.

"Jess and I have nothing to hide. I think dignity is the key... We are both out for each other's best interests."
