Jameela Jamil has hit back at a social media user’s suggestion that she has faked health problems in order to gain attention.

The ‘Good Place’ actor, 33, was accused by writer Tracie Egan Morrissey of lying about a number of issues – including her health issues and modelling career.

Morrissey posted a series of screenshots on her Instagram Stories, which she claimed undermined Jamil’s claims about her past experiences – including a “killer bees” anecdote she shared in 2015, which was contradicted by DJ Mark Ronson.

As part of these claims, Morrissey accused Jamil of having Munchausen Syndrome, a psychological disorder where someone repeatedly pretends to suffer from a physical or mental illness, or a number of such conditions, that they do not actually have, according to the NHS definition.

It is understood the “sick role” is put on in order to gain attention and/or to get people to care for them.

Jamil has spoken of her health conditions in the past, including sharing that she suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome – a group of disorders affecting the connective tissues supporting the skin, bones and blood vessels.

She also spoken publicly about being in two separate car accidents, including one when she was 17, which left her with a damaged spine, while the second happened while she was filming the first season of ‘The Good Place’.

However, the star has hit back at the claims in a series of Twitter messages, in which she refers to Morrissey’s claims as “dumb internet conspiracy theories” and calls her an “unhinged idiot”.

She also accused Morrissey of “gaslighting” her, and went on to poke fun at the conspiracy rumours, joking, “I’m not actually south Asian. It’s all Bobbi Brown bronzer.”
