Jameela Jamil calls out Khloe Kardashian

Given the grief the Kardashian sisters get when they post ads extolling the so-called virtues of weight loss products, it’s a wonder they continue to do them.

Khloé Kardashian became the latest family member to peddle the divisive products, sharing a sponsored post for Flat Tummy Co.’s meal replacement shakes, which she credited for helping her achieve “undeniable” results in just two weeks.

“Loving how my tummy looks right now you guys!” the new mum said, flashing her upper stomach. “I brought @flattummyco’s meal replacement shakes into my routine about two weeks ago, and the progress is undeniable.”

But many followers once again criticised the reality star for endorsing the controversial shakes, accusing her of setting a bad example about health and body image for her impressionable young fans.

“Young girls look up to Khloé and respect her ‘opinions’ and she doesn’t need Flat Tummy money,” read one comment. “There is no need for this.”

“Love everything about the pic except that message,” added a follower. “So damaging for young girls looking up to you.”

The loudest voice of opposition came from Jameela Jamil, who has taken the Kardashians and other celebrities like Cardi B to task for promoting diet products.

The Good Place actress accused Kardashian of hurting her fans by being “fixated” on her looks. She also said that the 34-year-old was being dishonest by claiming that the shakes were responsible for her toned body.

“If you’re too irresponsible to a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product … and b) tell them the side effects of this non-FDA-approved product, that most doctors are saying [isn’t] healthy … then I guess I have to,” she wrote.

Citing potential side effects like cramping, stomach pains, diarrhea and dehydration, she wrote, “It’s incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance”.

“You’re a smart woman. Be smarter than this.”

It’s the second time this year that Jamil has scolded Kardashian over a post about weight loss. In January she called a message that the star shared about losing weight “sad.”

Jamil’s latest statement is getting love from commenters thanking her for speaking up.

“It’s a good morning when you wake up to some truth-telling,” one fan wrote.
