Jada Pinkett Smith Brings Dystopian Fashion to Coachella 2024 in ‘Desert Trench’ Look With Dramatic Hood to Watch Will Smith’s Surprise Performance

Jada Pinkett Smith came ready to make a dramatic fashion statement during the first weekend of Coachella 2024. The “Girls Trip” actress attended performances on Sunday, fashioning a look that was ideal for the music festival held in Indio, Calif., and running from April 12 to April 14 and April 19 to April 21.

For Coachella, Pinkett Smith wore a look that she described on Instagram as “desert trench.” The ensemble featured a billowing skirt in a soft gray hue, a belted waist with gold metallic detailing at the end of the band of fabric and a large, draped hood, which Pinkett Smith wore to frame her face throughout the night.

As for accessories, the “Red Table Talk” host carried a black bag across her body. The dramatic piece was an entirely new take on the classic trenchcoat, embracing dystopian fashion with elements suitable for an occasion such as Coachella.

Pinkett Smith was on hand during the festival to support her 23-year-old daughter Willow Smith, whom she shares with Oscar-winning actor Will Smith. Willow performed with Jon Batiste during the music festival. Later on during the day, Will took the stage in a surprise appearance with rapper J Balvin.

Coachella has already featured a number of mesmerizing performances and creative high-fashion looks. Lana Del Rey, who headlined the music festival, fashioned a Swarovski crystal-embellished Dolce & Gabbana dress for her performance on Friday, the first official day of the music festival.

For her performance on Saturday, Gwen Stefani wore a custom Ashton Michael ensemble. Other notable fashion statements came courtesy of Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and even a surprise appearance by Taylor Swift.

Coachella is a destination for new trends. Among the most-searched fashion trends for the festival, according to Google, overalls, Coach purses and Western-inspired boots were among the top-searched style items for this year’s Coachella.
