Jack Black Shares New Year’s Workout Video, Says He’s ‘Keeping Up with the Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsons of the World’
“New Year’s Grind," the actor wrote
Jack Black seems to have costar Dwayne Johnson on his vision board for 2025.
On Jan. 1, the actor, 55, posted a funny video on Instagram while working out in the gym for the new year and admitted that he’s hoping to get in shape just like Johnson, 52, as the former wrestler is often sharing his intense workout videos on social media.
“It’s about sweat equity,” Black said while doing dumbbell presses. “It’s about putting in the work. It’s about putting in the grind. It’s about keeping up with the Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsons of the world.”
Black and Johnson costarred in 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level.
“You see how many I’m doing? That’s for definition,” Black continued before jokingly adding, "And for video."
The Borderlands star also added in the caption, “New Year’s Grind.”

This isn’t the first time Black has joked about his fellow stars who are known for their muscular physiques. Back in 2019 the School of Rock actor posted a video trying to recreate Chris Hemsworth’s impressive gym workout.
Black paired the videos side-by-side on Instagram and wrote, “Who did it better? #ThorWorkout.”
The hilarious spoof caught the attention of the Thor actor, among other followers, who commented on the clip.
“Haha you legend,” wrote Hemsworth, 41, before eventually reposting the video to his account and writing alongside it, “The student has become the master.”
