A lonely Russell Crowe has broken his silence on his sad split from his wife of nine years, singer Danielle Spencer, amid new revelations about why the once loved-up couple went their separate ways. Although they once enjoyed an apparently rock-solid romance, clues have recently emerged that the union was on shaky ground – most notably Russell’s intense workload and Danielle’s friendship with Dancing with the Stars partner Damian Whitewood. The pair’s friendship is said to have riled Russell. ‘Russell’s ego couldn’t handle it,’ a friend explains. ‘When Danielle was spotted out with another man, Russell hit the roof!’

Kieren Perkins stole the spotlight at the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Awards in Melbourne last week, walking the red carpet with his new girlfriend Karen Davis.
