A wedding guest has had her choice of outfit heavily questioned after turning up to a friend’s big day in a bridal-style gown.

The criticism was initially raised on a Reddit thread which featured a snap of the woman, who the post’s author had to reiterate who in fact was in the photo.

“Not the bride, not the wedding party. Just a wedding guest,” she wrote.

Unsurprisingly, users were quick to dish out their thoughts on the look, labelling it everything from ‘inappropriate’ to ‘a legit wedding dress’.

Divisive dress

“How dare a woman wear a damn wedding gown to another woman’s wedding,” concluded one critic.

“I don’t care what anyone says this is a basic wedding dress, and the chick wearing this has got some nerve!”

One person even went as far to ask whether the poster had misunderstood and the woman was potentially the bride.

However, others were not so convinced the woman had committed such a major taboo—and instead pointed blame at how the dress was photographed.

“Something about the way the pic looks makes me wonder if the colour photographed weird,” wrote one speculator.

Hopefully, this dress looked more blue or grey in person and just got washed out in the picture.”

“If you zoom in to the bottom left and just look at the bench next to her dress it looks like a silvery, grey, blueish colour. I think it photographed weird,” added another.
