Instagram star left bruised after getting bitten by famous beach pigs
There are many key locations the Insta-famous visit for the photo opportunities alone, and one of them is this famous beach in the Bahamas where you can swim with pigs.
The aptly-named Pig Beach is a staple location on many influencers’ Instagram feeds, and even made it into the infamous Fyre Festival promotional video.
But things went sour when one model and social media star tried to follow suit and visited the exotic location last week.
In her quest for a fabulous photo with the pigs, Michelle Lewin, a fitness influencer from Venezuela, got more than she bargained for.
The pigs didn’t seem to take too much of a liking to the 32-year-old, and in a video shared with her 13.4 million followers, Michelle is seen getting bitten by one of the large pigs.
A group of pigs had been following her across the sand, when one went in for a bite.
Immediately shrieking, the model started running, but more pigs chased after her.
In a second video, Michelle showed the aftermath of the bite; a large purple bruise.
It’s quite… remarkable 🏃🏼♀️🐖🤷🏼♀️

It’s not exactly known how the pigs ended up on the island of Big Major Cay – where Pig Beach is located – but according to the official Bahamas tourism website, the animals are not native to the island.
There is speculation they were left there by a group of sailors who intended to return to the island to cook the pigs, or they swam to safety on the island from a shipwreck.
However they ended up there remains a mystery, but there are now around 20 pigs and piglets inhabiting the beach.
While the beach has become a major attraction for tourists, some travel websites do state the animals on the island are “trained, caged or domesticated in any way”.
Some tourists on TripAdvisor have claimed the pigs can bite, which we can see from Michelle’s experience.
Lesson for the future: no matter how good the Instagram shot seems, be wary.
