Industry: Harry Lawtey to Exit HBO Drama After 3 Seasons
We won’t get to see if Robert’s new start-up takes off on Industry: Harry Lawtey, who plays Robert on the HBO finance drama, is leaving the cast after three seasons, TVLine has confirmed, with a source saying the exit is due to scheduling conflicts. (Our sister site Deadline first reported the news.)
Lawtey played Robert Spearing, a young investment banker working for UK bank Pierpoint, on Industry, which debuted on HBO in 2020. Robert endured a lot over his three seasons — most notably, he had his heart broken by love interest Yasmin, played by Marisa Abela, when she announced her engagement to Kit Harington’s filthy rich tech CEO Henry Muck — but things were looking up as Season 3 closed, with Robert taking on a new role as a pitchman for a psilocybin start-up. Things are looking up for Lawtey as well: He played Harvey Dent in last year’s Joker: Folie à Deux, and is set to play acting great Richard Burton in the upcoming biopic Mr Burton, alongside Lesley Manville and Toby Jones.
Industry earned a Season 4 renewal from HBO in September. In addition to Lawtey, Abela and Harington, the cast includes Myha’la, Ken Leung, Sagar Radia and Miriam Petche. Plus, Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) has joined the cast for Season 4 as Whitney Halberstram, “the CFO and Founder of Tender, a payment processor entering a growth phase.”
