Ice Spice Said She Was "Confused" By The Matty Healy Backlash: "I Feel Like People Just Wanted Something To Be Mad About"
Ice Spice is coming to Taylor Swift's defense.
Last year, the duo famously collaborated on Taylor's "Karma" remix. The song reached No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and topped its Pop Airplay list — but it wasn't without controversy.
At the time, some people felt the collab was calculated after Taylor's then-boyfriend Matty Healy received backlash for making offensive comments about Ice on a podcast.

During a February 2023 episode of The Adam Friedland Show, the 1975 frontman could be heard laughing as a series of racist comments were made about the "Munch (Feelin' U)" rapper.
The hosts also mocked different accents, such as Japanese and Hawaiian, and referred to Ice as “one of the Inuit Spice Girls,” a “chubby Chinese lady,” and “a fucking Eskimo.”
When Rolling Stone asked Ice about people saying Taylor only wanted to work with her for "clout," Ice said she found the comments incredibly "rude" and dismissive of their friendship.
"[It's] so rude to me, [because] why would she not want to be my friend?" Ice said. "Taylor fucks with me. She’s so funny. I think our personalities mesh really well."
She also addressed Matty's comments, saying she "wasn’t angry or sad" about them but was more "confused" than anything else.
"I actually was late as fuck to that," she confessed. "I didn’t know about it until, like, a month after or something like that."
“He apologized multiple times, but I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was to other people. I feel like people just wanted something to be mad about, I guess."
Ice also said, "I wasn't angry or sad or anything. I was just kind of confused. I never really cared about that." She added that she's still "a huge fan" of his to this day and continues to play his music.
