Hugh Jackman Admits to Having ‘1 Little Gripe’ with “Deadpool & Wolverine” Tied to Ryan Reynolds — Here's What It Is

Hugh Jackman is giving the boyband dance sequence featured in his 2024 blockbuster a new twist!

The actor, 56, was taking a moment to reflect on Deadpool & Wolverine during the opening night of his From New York, With Love concert series at Radio City Music Hall on Friday, Jan. 24, when he detailed his "one little gripe" about the film.

"It was an incredible movie, I did it with two of my closest friends, Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy, the director. And listen, everything about it was kind of perfect. The experience, well, almost perfect. I had one little gripe, sorry Ryan to bring it up," Jackman said of his friend and Deadpool & Wolverine costar who was in attendance.

"Ryan and Shawn were writers on the movie and the opening of the movie had this dance sequence, I don't know if you saw it. It had the character of Deadpool dancing to an *NSYNC song," Jackman added, referring to the film's opening "Bye Bye Bye" scene.

Jackman explained that he didn't "have to be in every frame of the movie," but still joked it was "weird" he and Reynolds, 48, were together for most of it "except for the dance sequence."

"I mean, that's one area where I kind of — I just have a little bit of experience," he said.

While Jackman didn't get the chance to let Wolverine tear up some moves on screen, he told his audience that he wanted to "have a little go" at it just for fans.

"I'm not gonna do you the original incredible choreography by Darrin Henson, I'm certainly not gonna try and match Ryan's dance double Nick Pauley," he said, before shouting out trainer Beth Lewis.

With a jump rope in his hands, Jackman then presented what the pair called "the dance that got away," a fast-paced choreographed jump rope routine, which he wrapped with a mini Wolverine-style celebration.

And when it was all done, the actor even gave Lewis a surprise of her own, an on-stage moment with a couple of Radio City Rockettes.

As previously reported, Jackman's show was packed with a cameo from his pal Ryan Reynolds and performances from multiple of Jackman's career highlights including The Greatest Showman, The Music Man and Les Misérables. He even sang a couple of hits perfect for the occasion such as "That's Life," and "New York, New York."

At the end of the show, Jackman shared some touching words with his audience, following what marked his first new concert offering in five years.

"I said thank you at the beginning and I'm going to say it again. You all chose to be here with us on our first night at Radio City," he said, visibly holding back tears. "I hosted the Tonys here 22 years ago, and my dream was to perform here. Thank you for being here."

Jackman will be sharing his From New York, With Love shows 23 more times over the course of the year, with tickets on sale now.
