Yahoo Lifestyle Hudson Meek Dead At 16 After Falling From Moving Vehicle
Actor Hudson Meek has died after sustaining fatal injuries during a fall from a moving car in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was 16.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told local news outlet AL.com that Meek “sustained blunt force injuries after falling to the road from a moving vehicle” during an accident last Thursday.
Meek, known for his role in 2017’s “Baby Driver,” later died “peacefully” at a Birmingham, Alabama, hospital on Saturday, according to an obituary posted on Searcy Funeral Homes’ website.
AL.com reports that Vestavia Hills police are currently investigating the fatal accident.
The high school sophomore was remembered in a post on Instagram made on Christmas Day.
“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” the tribute on Instagram read. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Meek’s most prominent credit was for playing a young version of Ansel Elgort’s titular lead in the high-octane Edgar Wright-directed heist film, “Baby Driver.”
He made his acting debut alongside older brother Tucker Meek in the 2014 made for television movie, “The Santa Con.”
Later credits include the television series “MacGyver,” “Genius,” “Found,” and “Legacies,” as well as the films “Union,” “Providence” and “The School Duel.”
Meek is survived by his brother; his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek; and his grandmothers, Margaret Green Meek and Faye Searcy Wells, according to his obituary.
