Amidst Blake Lively's Sexual Harassment Complaint Against Justin Baldoni, Christina Ricci Showed Support For Her And Amber Heard
This post contains mentions of sexual harassment.
Last weekend, it was revealed that Blake Lively filed a legal complaint against Justin Baldoni for alleged sexual harassment on the set of It Ends with Us, as well as accusations that he ran an online smear campaign against her to damage her career. You can read more about the allegations here.
The fallout from the legal filing has been swift. Over the past week, Justin was dropped by the talent agency previously representing him, and his podcast co-host Liz Plank stepped away from their podcast The Man Enough.
In a statement to the New York Times, Justin's lawyer Bryan Freedman alleged that Blake planted “negative and completely fabricated and false stories with media” against Justin, which was a reason why Justin's studio Wayfarer Studios "made the decision to hire a crisis professional" last summer. Bryan has also since threatened to sue over leaked texts related to the allegations.
There's also been plenty of people speaking out about the legal compaint and how the alleged behavior affected Blake's career. SAG-AFTRA issued a statement calling the allegations against Justin "startling and troubling," and It Ends With Us co-stars Jenny Slate and Brandon Sklenar also voiced support for her following the legal filing.
Amber Heard — who faced similar alleged online smear tactics while defending herself during her US defamation trial involving Johnny Depp — also issued a statement saying she experienced what Blake went through "firsthand and up close." "It’s as horrifying as it is destructive," she added.
Several days ago, Christina Ricci also showed her support for Blake and Amber by resharing a post on her IG Story.
Christina reposted a post from writer @rebeccawooolf in which Rebecca states that "Misogyny exploits the jelously women feel for each other — specifically when it comes to beautiful women & girls."
"The fact that 'mean girls' are always beautiful is no coincidence. The ease in which women are maniuplated into hating each other (even feminist women) is something no one wants to talk about."
"This is (yet another!) reminder to question our willingness to burn ANY woman. That includes beautiful, successful women who dare to have a voice."
