Home and Away's Emily Symons looks unrecognisable in throwback
Home and Away star Emily Symons first appeared on the long-running soap in 1989, portraying the iconic role of Marilyn Chambers.
The star shared a compilation of Home and Away’s early opening credits on Wednesday, and she's almost unrecognisable with her 90s-styled hair and outfits.
In the Instagram clip, the then 19-year-old is seen with big, curly hair and stuns in a polka-dot swimsuit on the beach. In a cheesy move, she catches a beach ball and laughs as her name flashes onscreen.
Another shot shows both Emily and Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart) as they attempt to unpack a car by the beach.

The original clip was shared by a fan account, and followers loved the feeling of nostalgia.
“Ahhh such good memories. Home and Away was SO good back then,” wrote a fan.
“I remember it so well. Feeling old!!!” added a second.
“Oh wow. So many memories dredged up!” another chimed in.
“Used to love hearing the theme song every evening. Wish they’d bring back opening credits instead of ridiculously long recaps of what we saw the day before,” remarked a fourth.
Emily also commented on another throwback clip of herself and Mat Stevenson (Adam Skinner), when the pair played a fan-favourite couple.
“How lovely to see this! Love and miss you Mat Stevenson,” she wrote.
“Miss you too ole friend,” Mat replied.
Fans went wild over the interaction and said that the characters should be reunited onscreen, even though Mat’s last appearance was in 1999.
“I would love to see Adam back with Marilyn, she definitely needs a love interest,” a fan suggested.
“I think it would be great to revisit Marilyn and Adam in the present day. They worked so well back in the day and Maz is kind of drifting in terms of a life partner,” another agreed.
“Adam was such a great character. Would be great if he could return one day, especially with Marilyn still being there!” a third wrote.
“When they announced that the new doctor’s surname was Cameron, I wondered if it was possible for Adam to have a daughter old enough to be the Head of ED, and whether that could facilitate an Adam return,” another pondered.
