Hill's Pet Nutrition Helps 11 Abandoned Puppies in Kansas

The thought of someone abandoning a litter of 11 puppies in a crate by the side of the road is unimaginable to most of us. Thankfully, despite being dirty and hungry, these little ones were otherwise okay.

The Great Plains SPCA in Merriam, Kansas found some wonderful foster families to care for the 11 puppies, and Hills Pet Nutrition made sure the were supplied with Science Diet Puppy Sensitive Stomach & Skin food.

The Great Plains SPCA posted on Instagram, in part,  "It simply breaks our hearts to see the number of innocent animals left to die on the streets. All of these pups are filthy, exhausted from their ordeal, and immediately fell asleep once they realized they were safe. With PARVO positive pups already in our care and numerous others exposed, our shelter is struggling with all of the young dogs in need. Please DONATE today. Without your support, we could not say yes to the influx of pets that are suffering due to senseless cruelty."

Via email, the Great Plains SPCA stated, "When the puppies got to us, they were in rough shape. They'd obviously had a difficult start to their lives,” said Matt Finucane, Senior Manager of Adoptions at Great Plains. “Being able to feed them Hill’s Science Diet Puppy Sensitive Stomach and Skin will help them get healthier and will ultimately increase the chances of a successful transition to their forever homes. We're very grateful our friends at Hills reached out to us about this!"

The best part about this? When the puppies are ready to be adopted, each one will go to their new home with three months of the food so it’s easier for their new families to keep the puppies on the same routine.

Hills Pet's Nutrition said, "These puppies got a rough start, but our long-time shelter partner Great Plains is taking wonderful care of them, and we’re going to help them get a solid start in their new homes with a strong nutritional foundation,” said Dr. Stacey Bone, a veterinarian with Hill’s Pet Nutrition. “Providing their new pet parents with Hill’s Science Diet Sensitive Stomach & Skin Puppy food will support the puppies’ digestive health and nourish their skin. The food includes a blend of prebiotic fibers that promote better stool quality for easier poop pick up, plus it includes DHA from fish oil to support brain and eye development.”
