Here's How "XO, Kitty" Brought Back Noah Centineo's Peter Kavinsky From "To All The Boys"

The year was 2018, and a new movie adaptation of a beloved YA book had just hit Netflix, and we all collectively lost our minds. That movie was, of course, To All the Boys I've Loved Before.

Starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo as Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky, To All the Boys was a runaway hit for Netflix, with so many people obsessed with not only Lana and Noah's chemistry but the movie because it felt like it brought back the rom-com.

The success of the first film led to two more movies, both adaptations of the remainder of Jenny Han's book series of the same name.

And now, the world of To All the Boys has expanded with the spinoff series XO, Kitty, which focuses on Kitty (Anna Cathcart), Lara Jean's younger sister, who is now attending a boarding school in Seoul, where their late mother also attended.

Similar to To All the Boys, the spinoff also centers on Kitty finding love and continuing to be a matchmaker, like she was for Lara Jean and Peter K.

Since the show premiered, a few To All the Boys characters have made appearances. For instance, Dan (John Corbett) and Trina (Sarayu Blue) appeared in Season 1.

Dae (Minyeong Choi), one of Kitty's love interests, was also a boy she met in Seoul in the third To All the Boys movie.

And now, Season 2 has just hit Netflix, and it features some of the most important guest stars, like Noah Centineo as the beloved Peter Kavinsky.

Peter appears in Season 2, Episode 6 titled "Kiss and Make Up." He visits Kitty at K.I.S.S., her school, while in Seoul for a college lacrosse tournament.

For his first scene on XO, Kitty, the series even played "I Like Me Better" by Lauv, which notably played during To All the Boys I've Loved Before when Lara Jean and Peter go to Aspen with their friends.

And as if no time has passed, Noah slips back into Peter K. so perfectly as Kitty fills him in on her very, very complicated romantic situations, and he even tries to help her out with Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee).

Peter also offers an update on him and Lara Jean, who are as strong as ever, and I cannot stop swooning over Peter Kavinsky like it's 2018.

Speaking to Deadline, XO, Kitty Season 2 showrunner Jessica O'Toole broke down how Noah's cameo came to be, and it sounds like it was just pure luck.

"The Recruit [Noah's current TV series on Netflix] was filming in Seoul, and there ended up being one day that he could shoot, and it happened to be our first day of shooting of the full season," Jessica explained. "He’s in a later episode, but we were like, 'Well, we're gonna make this happen.' He was so gracious and thrilled to do it."

Jessica called the cameo "serendipitous," saying it required a lot of hard work to make it happen. Since they filmed it very early in the season, but it wasn't happening until Episode 6, scripts were still being written, the director was flown in, and so much more.

She concluded, telling Deadline, "[Noah] brings such an easy going and friendly and warm vibe everywhere. Getting to see them be so happy to work together and watch their magic and everything, it was a great way to start off the season."

Meanwhile, Noah opened up about returning as Peter K. in a behind-the-scenes video for Netflix. He said it was "scary" returning to the character, saying, "You reopen something you did five years ago. It was very, very special, and you want to do it justice. You want to do the fans justice and the character and the world justice. You don't want to let anyone down."

Noah also talked about reuniting with Anna on set, saying, "It was amazing and surreal and wonderful. She's so talented." He added, "But coming back here and working with Anna it's magic to this whole universe that Jenny's created."

And it looks like all the hard work paid off because fans cannot get enough of Noah reprising his role as Peter Kavinsky in Season 2:

Here's hoping if XO, Kitty returns for a third season, we can maybe get a chance to see Lara Jean, too.
